Web-enablement specialist and Macromedia distributor, Dax Data, has signed a sub-distribution agreement with computer hardware manufacturer, Logitech, to distribute its Webcams and PC peripherals.

Jeremy Matthews, MD of Dax Data, says the company required suitable video conferencing hardware tools that could be shipped in conjunction with its Macromedia Flash Communication Server.

"Our aim is to provide a complete multimedia communication development solution to designers and developers that can be experienced consistently across many platforms and devices.

"We looked at a number of offerings and Logitech came out on top because of its leading Webcam technology, its price/performance ratio as well as its ease of integration and customisability with Macromedia Flash Communication Server," says Matthews.

Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX is a server-based platform for creating and deploying compelling, interactive Web-based audio/video applications such as video on demand, live event broadcasts, Webcam chat and real-time collaboration applications

"Logitech Webcams are the best from a technology point of view and have been very well received in the local market," says Mireille Davidson, SA`s sales and marketing manager at Logitech.

"The agreement with Dax Data, motivated by increasing market demand for quality cost-effective communication solutions, enhances Logitech`s national presence in the Internet developer, business and consumer markets," he concludes.

Logitech`s complete product range is also available through Dax Data, which includes: mice, trackballs, keyboards, mouse and keyboard combinations, gaming products, digital cameras, speakers, handheld accessories, 3D controllers for CAD/CAM users, and mobile phone headsets.
