Logitech partners with Budget Technologies

Johannesburg, 03 Oct 2001

Computer retailer Budget Technologies has been selected by Logitech to help it expand the market for its computer mouse, keyboards and Web-cam products in SA.

The move follows Logitech`s announcement of a new dealer programme to create greater for its offerings within the corporate sector.

"We are focusing our new initiative on our top dealers throughout the country. We want to repeat our success in the consumer market by gaining a stronger foothold in the corporate sector," says Shawn Bezuidenhout, sales manager, Logitech South Africa.

"Demand for our products is currently running high as evidenced by the fact that we are experiencing 30% growth in sales, quarter-on-quarter, whereas the PC and peripheral market, as a whole, is in decline," he notes.

Budget Technologies, a division of Dakomyo Enterprises, is rated as the eighth largest software retailer in SA. More than 60% of its sales are to businesses, according to director, Launa Bagnall.

"We`ve marketed Logitech products into the home market for many years," she says. "Recently demand in the corporate sector has risen to the point where sales into this market sector are now dominant."

Budget is currently launching a Web sales site and a comprehensive business-to-consumer (B2C) initiative to enable it to expand its footprint beyond its Johannesburg-based store. In related moves it has established distribution outlets in Durban and Cape Town.
