Logitech has introduced its Unifying receiver, which allows notebook users to connect multiple PC peripherals with a single receiver.

According to the company, the receiver is so small it can be stored in a notebook when it is packed away, as it only protrudes 8mm from the edge of the notebook.

The key benefit of the new receiver, says the company, is that users can pair six compatible Logitech wireless devices, such as keyboards and mice, with the single device.

“This frees up other USB ports to connect even more devices to your PC,” says Romain du Gardier, sales and marketing manager at Logitech SA.

The Unifying receiver is debuting with four products: the Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350 and K340, as well as the Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 and the Logitech Wireless Mouse M505.

Setting up the receiver and Logitech peripherals is fast and easy, according to the company. Users simply plug in the receiver, with the mouse or keyboard being recognised in seconds.

Logitech adds that if users want to add more devices, the Unifying can be downloaded from the company's Web site, which provides give a step-by-step guide to add extra devices.

According to Du Gardier, both Unifying-compatible keyboards feature Logitech Advanced 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, which gives users the reliability of a cord plus wireless convenience, fast transmission, virtually no delays or dropouts, and 128-bit AES encryption for security.

Logitech adds that the new Marathon Mouse M705 offers up to three-year battery life and hyper-fast scrolling, while the Wireless Mouse M505 offers 15 months of battery life and features laser tracking.

The Wireless Keyboard K350 and K340 will be available from Q4 this year and retail for R699 and R499, respectively, according to Logitech. The Marathon Mouse M705 will retail for R699 and the Wireless Mouse M505 for R499.
