Logitech has added another design to the company`s popular optical trackball line. Based on Logitech`s patented Marble optical sensing and Palomar digital radio technology, the new trackball is dubbed the Cordless TrackMan Optical.
It presents a number of new navigation features in a finger-operated, right-handed design. These include special `drag-lock` functions to move text and images with ease and a Cruise Control scrolling function, which allows the user to scroll rapidly through Web pages and documents by simply pressing a button.
"With the conveniently located thumb-operated `forward` and `back` buttons, users can navigate easily through applications and Web pages without having to move the cursor to the browser`s on-screen buttons," says Shawn Bezuidenhout, sales and marketing manager at Logitech South Africa.
The colour scheme of Cordless TrackMan Optical is metallic silver with black soft-touch insets.
The "space-age" design of Cordless TrackMan Optical is complemented by other Logitech technologies, including its patented optical Marble technology for smooth cursor movement and 27MHz digital radio technology for cordless freedom.
Logitech Cordless TrackMan Optical uses either a USB or a PS/2 interface and is compatible with Windows 95 and 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows XP, as well as Macintosh 8.6 or later operating systems.
Today, Logitech is a leader for mice and trackballs worldwide with over 25 million cordless devices sold. The company has long been an innovator in the area of trackball technology, from the invention of the first optical trackball, TrackMan Marble, in 1995.
