Logitech has announced a range of wireless consumer products for 2005, most of which will be available at local retailers before Christmas.
"The three key zones for Logitech`s new ranges are at the desk, in the home and on the go," says Simone van Zuylen, marketing manager at Logitech Southern Africa. "With these new additions to our range, Logitech is adding style and useful features to the PC, the living room and the mobile generation."
The products showcased include cordless keyboards and mice, cordless gamepads, force-feedback steering wheels and speaker sets.
The X530 surround-sound speaker set is expected to sell for R799. "It offers excellent sound quality with 70 watts per channel," she says.
Logitech says it has focused much effort on the design of these products. For example, the new cordless keyboard is slim to better accommodate typing and put less strain on the wrists.
"The keyboard is customisable, so you can set your 'F` keys to take you to Internet Explorer or Outlook Express at a touch of a button."
A universal remote control will also soon be available locally. "It enables you to control all your equipment in the living room including your TV, hi-fi, DVD player or surround-sound," says Van Zuylen.
There are also a number of additions for gamers, with cordless gamepads for the PC, Xbox and PlayStation 2.
Logitech says the gamepads are lighter and smaller in dimension, with longer ranges (9m) and longer battery life.
Another introduction is the Bluetooth headset with Windstop technology, which reduces wind noise when the user drives in a car with the windows open.
