Logitech has released a handheld device, dubbed the Cordless Presenter, which uses Bluetooth technology to provide control over presentations up to a distance of 10 metres.

The Cordless Presenter is said to be especially well suited for professionals on the road, with its ability to double as an optical mouse.

For notebooks that are not Bluetooth-enabled, Cordless Presenter has a mini USB wireless receiver. The device is also equipped with an integrated laser pointer that can be used to emphasise onscreen points during the presentation.

Cordless Presenter features an attractive blue finish and a curved shape that fits comfortably in the hand. It can be used by both left- and right-handed users. Cordless Presenter permits easy navigation through Microsoft PowerPoint presentations with large `forward` and `back` buttons.

The included Logitech MouseWare enables the user to program the buttons in either mouse or presentation mode. An onboard LED confirms the status of the Bluetooth wireless connection and also serves as an indicator of battery life. Two scroll buttons are dedicated to vertical scroll while the device is being used as a mouse.

The Cordless Presenter receiver connects to the PC via a USB port and is compatible with Windows 98, Windows 2000 Windows Me and Windows XP. Cordless Presenter uses Bluetooth Human Interface Device (HID) Profile.95 and will be compatible with devices based on this HID profile. The USB receiver serves as a bridge for notebooks that do not use the HID profile.95.
