Logitech has introduced its first product in a new line of Web cameras targeted at notebook computer users. QuickCam for Notebooks is a compact, portable Web camera that was developed to keep pace with increasing sales of notebook computers to students and travellers.

"Sales of notebook computers continues to increase, while more people are using Web cameras to stay in touch with family and friends," says Bruce Friedricks, director of product marketing for Logitech`s Video Business Unit.

"In response to these trends, Logitech has produced a Web camera that can easily travel and mount on notebook screens. We anticipate consumers will enjoy the experience and convenience offered by QuickCam for Notebooks - the first of two notebook-specific cameras that we will introduce this year."

QuickCam for Notebooks offers quality video and still image communication over the Web, through its CIF CMOS sensor. The camera can tilt and rotate 360-degrees, giving the user subject framing control.

Its integrated screen mount fits notebook PCs and folds up for easy storage and lens when not in use.

This camera ships with Logitech`s QuickCam , which enables video instant messaging, e-mailing photo and video messages, video calling over the using Microsoft NetMeeting, personal video broadcasting via SpotLife, as well as picture and video organisation in an integrated gallery.
