Pretoria-based software developer PreWorX has embarked on a strategic drive to expand its global footprint in the US, EU and Asia Pacific regions.
Using its South African-based intellectual capital as a foundation, PreWorX has established operations in a number of offshore territories through a PreWorX-branded franchise operation.
Rhys Taylor, sales & and marketing director of PreWorX, says: "Our growth to this stage has been driven from South Africa through local and European distributors, along with certain OEM agreements. Although this process has been effective, moving to the next stage of expansion and delivering the returns our shareholders expect means PreWorX needs to restructure its business model."
To better manage the extended operation, the company has relocated its headquarters to London, a globally central location. "We are looking towards and the eventual consolidation of all available resources into a PreWorX Europe operation," adds Taylor. "The sheer size of the market in the UK and Europe means our opportunity is near-limitless compared to what we had access to in the past. The global market for desktop management software is around $1,8 billion, of which Europe represents as much as 30%."
The new headquarters has been renamed PreWorX International Ltd. The Pretoria concern will remain in operation (with all its staff) as the PreWorX Development Centre, from where all future software development and original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreements will be managed. "PreWorX engages with multinational software vendors to incorporate components of its technology into their systems under licence," says Taylor.
"Novell is a prime example of an OEM partner. It has successfully integrated PreWorX technology into its ZENWorks for Desktops management suite for a number of years, and PreWorX will be demonstrating its latest offerings at Novell`s global BrainShare conferences this year."
In reorganising its channel, the company decided not to appoint a channel that would handle multiple products from various vendors, but only deal through a franchise programme with PreWorX branded distributors committed to the company`s technology.
"We have various new channel partners situated around the world, all taking the same branding and PreWorX message into their markets," Taylor adds. The current PreWorX distributors are:
* PreWorX South East Asia, operating out of Sydney, Australia and responsible for the Pacific region;
* PreWorX Solutions Netherlands, a PreWorX distributor operating out of Holland with its scope of operations exclusively covering the Netherlands, with non-exclusive coverage of the German, Austrian and Benelux regions
* PreWorX Consulting UK, operating exclusively in the UK market;
* PreWorX USA, based in Seattle, is the first PreWorX company in the Americas; and
* PreWorX Africa based in Pretoria, responsible for Africa and the Middle Eastern region
Rounding out the restructuring, PreWorX has appointed Charles Osburn as CEO. Taylor is confident that his appointment will play a vital role in the successful expansion of PreWorX operations and the smooth transition and growth of the company internationally.
