London Overground to get free WiFi
WiFi at all 56 stations on the network, The Telegraph reports.
They will be allowed 60 minutes free access per day once the hotspots are up and running. The first 12 will be installed at stations spread across the network by the end of the year, London Overground said.
ZDNet quotes Steve Murphy, MD of London Overground Rail Operations (LOROL), as saying: "Access to the Internet is no longer limited solely to home or to the workplace, and people's expectation is to be able to work and communicate effectively and seamlessly while they're on the move. So we're delighted to support this initiative, which will bring reliable, free WiFi to London Overground's customers.”
The stations in line to get WiFi connectivity this year are Willesden Junction, West Hampstead, New Cross Gate, Forest Hill, West Croydon, Norwood Junction, Surrey Quays, Dalston, Wapping, Hackney Central, Kensington Olympia and Shepherd's Bush.
Passengers will only have to register once for the service, which will give them 60 free minutes of use each day, says London Overground.
According to T3, the connectivity will only be available at the tube stations themselves, rather than within the tube tunnels.
