The SonicWALL range of network security appliances (NSAs), available locally from LOOPHOLD Security Distribution, has been awarded one of the networking industry's highest recognised certifications (accepted by 25 countries): Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 certification augmented with flaw remediation (EAL 4+).
Common Criteria, presented by the Canadian Communications Security Establishment (CSEC), is an internationally recognised set of guidelines (ISO 15408), which define a common framework for evaluating security features and capabilities of information technology security products.
Awarded to SonicWALL's NSA E7500, E6500, E5500, 5000, 4500 and 3500 products, the standard includes several predetermined evaluation assurance levels which in turn enable vendors to test their products against a chosen level by an independent third-party testing laboratory.
The SonicWALL NSAs deliver file and content-based threat prevention at gigabit speed. Key strengths include the appliances' ability to combine real-time and reassembly-free deep packet inspection firewall with multiple layers of protection technology and a suite of security services such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and content filtering.
The Common Criteria certifications are mutually accepted by countries through the CCRA (Common Criteria Recognition Agreement) which includes the US and a requirement for purchases made by many governments within the CCRA.
