LOOPHOLD Security Distribution, local Celestix distributor, has announced the availability of Celestix network-security appliances based on its new Pyxis and Hydrus hardware platforms. Celestix designed the new hardware platforms to raise the performance of network-security applications, which lowers per-user costs of providing security for large enterprise IT networks.
Celestix bases Hydrus and Pyxis (pronounced pĭk'sĭs) architectures around Intel's latest generation of Xeon processors to boost the performance of network-security applications. Celestix appliance platforms deploy network applications such as Microsoft ISA Server 2006 and Microsoft IAG 2007, as well as Websense content filtering, Kaspersky anti-virus and other core-security functions.
Hydrus, designed for security deployments at large enterprises, employs Intel's highest-performance components, including Quad-core Xeon processor 5400 Series CPUs on a 1 333MHz frontside bus for high-capacity memory access.
Pyxis hardware employs the Dual-Core Intel Xeon 3000 Series processors. A 3210 System Controller chip provides a 1 333MHz FSB to scale high-speed security to mid-sized enterprises.
“Improving the performance of network security hardware can save businesses money, by servicing more users and keeping hardware costs down. Saving money and improving the bottom line are of vital concern to every organisation in these economically uncertain times,” says Martin Tassev, MD of LOOPHOLD. “Appliances based on these new platforms allow network architects to improve security while reducing costs for better retained profits.”
Hydrus hardware integrates with Microsoft ISA Server 2006 and Celestix SlingSHOT appliance engine to create MSA8000 security appliances. Hydrus and SlingSHOT combine with Microsoft IAG software to create Celestix WSA8000 SSL VPN appliances. Pyxis hardware goes into MSA5000, MSA6000, and WSA6000 appliances.
