Lotus names Lawson `Best In Show` at Lotusphere 2000

Johannesburg, 04 Feb 2000

Lawson , the only provider of Self-Evident Applications (SEA) for e-business, has announced that it has won the Best in Showcase Beacon Award. The award was presented by Lotus Development this week at Lotusphere 2000 in Orlando, and recognises Lawson`s development of its Information Office Enterprise Portal Solution.

Based on Lawson`s Self-Evident Applications technology, Information Office Enterprise Portal utilises Domino Enterprise Connection Services (DECS) technology to provide real-time access to 100 percent of Lawson`s enterprise software application suites, Lotus personal productivity and collaborative application, complementary Domino-based software solutions and any -connected source.

"Lawson`s Domino-powered e-business portal solution empowers every user to perform transactions, administer individual and workgroup environments, publish content and communicate via a company intranet based on the user`s role within the enterprise," says Cliff van Tonder, country manager of Lawson Software Africa.

"Lawson`s Information Office Enterprise Portal also delivers an unprecedented level of customisation, allowing users to modify their desktop into an information access environment based on the individual`s role within the enterprise," adds van Tonder. "All access to enterprise information and applications is maintained in the personalised desktop, which is fully protected by Lawson and Lotus Domino security features."

Judged by a team of influential industry players from around the world, the sixth annual Beacon Awards recognise Lotus Business Partners that have excelled at providing quality products, innovative solutions and superior services to customers. More than 500 nominations from 40 countries were submitted this year for awards in 11 categories, reflecting the rapidly growing portfolio of solutions and services provided by Lotus Business Partners.

"Lawson Software`s Best in Lotusphere Showcase award recognises Lawson`s leadership in building and delivering a state-of-the-art e-business solution that offers the widest range of Lotus Domino R/5 technologies," said Pat Hume, vice president, Worldwide Business Partner Program, Lotus Development. "This award demonstrates to the world our belief that Lawson is delivering one of the highest quality solutions available."
