In line with its multi-pronged strategy for South Africa, Lucent Technologies Business Communications Systems (BCS) has officially brought Dimension Data Interactive into the partner fold.
Under the terms of the agreement Dimension Data's Interactive Call Centre Solutions division will act as a value added reseller for Lucent's high end product set - specifically the Definity range. The move, says Sean Owen-Jones, MD at Lucent BCS southern Africa, builds on an existing relationship between the two companies.
"DDI Call Centre Solutions has been active with high end Lucent call centre solutions for some time, scoring major wins in the banking, insurance and assurance arenas. Its official appointment as a VAR comes in the wake of us formalising our reseller strategy."
In becoming a partner Dimension Data Interactive joins IT groups Siltek and Spescom. Owen-Jones says at present these three companies are capable of delivering high end solutions into the local corporate market. As demand grows, however, another partnership could be on the cards, he says. These would be evaluated on a case by case basis.
With a team of skilled engineers, a broad national footprint and a solid marketing division Lucent's choice of partner is a good one, says Owen-Jones. In addition he expects the division to expand its team to meet the huge potential in the local call centre market.
Craig Ireland, MD at Dimension Data Interactive Call Centre Solutions, says the relationship with Lucent creates a strong alliance to provide this market with a robust, secure and scaleable switching platform for enterprise voice solutions. "Indeed Lucent has [long] been a key component of the division`s solution set for specific customer`s communication requirements."
