Lucent Technologies `Cajun P333T Switch earns "NetWORKS As Advertised" award from Mier Communications

Stackable Switch Cited for Superb Price/Performance, Excellent Management Capabilities, Flexible Stacking Ability and Resilient Design as Part of Comprehensive Evaluation

Lucent Technologies has announced that its Cajun P333T Switch has earned a "NetWORKS As Advertised" award in the stackable 10/100/1000 megabits per second (Mbps) Ethernet switch category from Mier Communications, a leading US-based independent product test centre.

Mier Communications developed the methodology and criteria applied in this analysis for testing this category of stackable switches. The Model P333T was assessed using the same series of tests previously employed to evaluate competing stackable switches, and Lucent`s next-generation solution outperformed all these products in both stand-alone and stacking configurations.

"The Cajun P333T demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving maximum throughput rates in a variety of performance tests that exceeded - by an order of magnitude - all similar competitive products tested to date," said Rob Smithers, vice president of technology at Mier Communications. "In the undivided opinion of the testers, Lucent`s stackable P333T Switch fully meets the expectations and requirements of medium and large enterprises that need outstanding performance and the ability to link and manage switches that are geographically dispersed, and is rated a good buy."

The Model P333T is one of four base units that comprise the company`s next-generation Cajun P330^O Switching System family. It offers 24 ports of 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connectivity, and includes a front expansion slot that accepts a variety of optional modules that provide 16 additional 10/100 ports, two fibre Fast Ethernet ports and either one or two Gigabit Ethernet ports.

The Cajun P333T features an eight gigabits per second (Gbps) Octaplane^O stacking architecture that supports up to 10 units in a stack that all function, perform and can be managed as a single device with one Internet Protocol (IP) address.

Lucent`s Cajun P330 family also provides the Quality of Service (QoS) policy support required, from the wiring closet to the backbone, for applications such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), mixed media collaboration or streaming video.
