Lucent Technologies showcases communications networks for the next generation at CeBIT 2000

Lucent Technologies, the world`s largest telecommunications equipment supplier, is be showcasing next generation solutions that give service providers, Service Providers (ISPs) and enterprise customers the systems, software and services required for advanced solutions today, and for the future.

"Next-generation networks are what is driving the new economy," said Ben Verwaayen, Lucent`s vice chairman. "It`s not only about the Internet, it`s much more than that. It`s optical and networks; open, programmable networks that pave the way for new innovative applications; it`s high-speed broadband access and the services and support that ensure quality and reliability. That`s what Lucent is about."

To address the high-growth optical networking market, Lucent has announced the industry`s first high-speed optical networking system capable of bringing 10-gigabit (OC-192/STM-64) networking capacity directly to ISPs. Lucent also unveiled seven other 10-gigabit networking products as it rounds out the industry`s most comprehensive 10G portfolio.

In Hall 11, stand E51 and Hall 16, stand B06/B08, Lucent is demonstrating its broad portfolio of converged data and voice solutions, with the design, build and implementation services offered by NetworkCareSM professional services. Communications applications for data and voice services over IP networks will demonstrate the critical quality of service and `always on` reliability features needed for seamless, secure and reliable IP-based networks.

The company is also demonstrating seamless connectivity from the core network to the desktop with Lucent Collaborative Video technology.

  • Enterprise Infrastructure: Solutions that satisfy expansive demands for campus backbone and high performance workgroup environments including Cajun IP, ATM and multiservice switches, frame relay and policy-based solutions, wireless LAN, gigabit cabling and more
