Lucent Technologies unveils comprehensive trade-in program for users of 3Com switches

Johannesburg, 07 Apr 2000

Aggressive initiative provides 3Com customers with incentives to upgrade their infrastructures with Cajun campus family of Enterprise Solutions

Lucent Technologies has announced that its Enterprise Networks Group 3/4 which will be spun off as a separate, independent company later this year under a new name 3/4 has unveiled a comprehensive trade-in program for users of 3Com Corp.`s local area (LAN) enterprise switches. 3Com recently announced its intention to transition out of this business and discontinue its CoreBuilder product line with last customer shipments scheduled for June 30.

The Enterprise Networks Group`s initiative provides existing 3Com customers with incentives to upgrade their data infrastructures with various Cajun^O Campus Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and multifunction switches.

Called "Build Your Core with Cajun," this trade-in program offers 3Com customers free equivalent Cajun Campus modular chassis products, cash rebates for the trade-in of various 3Com modules and stackable products towards the purchase of comparable Cajun solutions, plus additional incentives.

"Our high-performance Cajun Campus modular chassis and stackable enterprise data solutions offer outstanding price/performance and value combined with unrivaled functionality, port density and scalability," says Uzi Shneor, vice president of marketing in Lucent`s LAN Systems Group. "And their DayOne Ready capabilities allow users to implement data, voice and video applications without resorting to expensive and disruptive upgrades."
