Lumension purchases Securityworks
Lumension is expanding its offerings in risk management and compliance software with the acquisition of Securityworks, a firm specialising in computerised risk analysis, states Business Journal.
Lumension will integrate Dallas-based Securityworks and its team into the Scottsdale-based business during the next 18 to 24 months, according to Pat Clawson, Lumension's chairman and CEO.
The addition of Securityworks' software, which allows companies to digitally compile information for governance, risk and compliance for a host of federal regulations, will combine with Lumension's software.
Firms tackle risk issues
Sourcing advisor EquaTerra, sourcing software and services firm EquaSiis, and Veracode, application risk management provider, are collaborating to drive risk management, says Earth Times.
The partnership aims to combat data risk which is compromised by application security vulnerabilities in software, including those managed by third party outsourcers.
Mark Robinson, chief operations officer at EquaTerra, says: “Data and application security have become too critical in an era of global sourcing to be left to chance or addressed using yesterday's tools, techniques, terms and conditions.”
GRC concerns drive IAM
Research firm Forrester has found over three-quarters of enterprise IT security professionals in France, Germany and the UK feel that some aspects of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) is pushing them into embracing identity and access management (IAM), reports ComputerWeekly.com.
In 'Identity and access management adoption in Europe: 2008', the analyst firm found the top drivers of IAM were security and governance, and 78% of the IT security professionals regarded IAM as important or very important to their organisation in the coming 12 months.
Forrester advises that companies start their identity management initiatives to build a case around improved governance, risk, and compliance, and start with authentication.
