Lutheran World Federation chooses ACCPAC in support of Kosovo relief effort

Johannesburg, 24 Apr 2000

LA Technology, sole distributors for ACCPAC International, a division of Computer Associates' interBiz group in Africa, has announced that the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Department for World Service selected ACCPAC Corporate Series to meet the financial reporting needs of its Kosovo Field Operations.

LWF helps to rebuild homes and assists with food , trauma counselling, and social development. The Kosovo operation is one of more than 20 LWF programs worldwide dedicated to helping displaced victims of war. LWF has also rolled out ACCPAC Corporate Series in Tanzania and India and is in the process of installing it in Liberia, Mauritania, Zimbabwe, and Cambodia. The solution will soon be implemented in all 20 programs.

"ACCPAC's ease of use and comprehensive reporting convinced us that it was the only product to use in our field operations," said Friedrich Manske, LWF's Director of Finance. "The faster we can administer and allocate funds, the faster we can help those who need it most. Additionally, organizations such as ours are expected to provide highly accurate reports to donors. We needed an accounting product that could offer diversified reporting, and be simple enough to enable localpeople to learn it quickly."

ACCPAC Corporate Series is a complete, multitiered business management system designed for the mid-market. ACCPAC Corporate Series robust feature set includes powerful analysis and reporting capabilities, Microsoft VBA hosting, multicurrency with euro support and BASDA EMU accreditation, multilingual support, e-business integration, extensive customisation options, and a complete accounting feature set.

Not-for-profit organizations like LWF have very complex reporting requirements. ACCPAC's 10-segment code allows the LWF to report at any analytical level, and by any specific program or donor. ACCPAC is helping create a standard chart of accounts for all LWF field offices to satisfy local statutory accounting requirements.

"We found ACCPAC Corporate Series to be a product that is easy to use, flexible, and very well supported," said Shirley Golding, Secretary for Finance and Administration at LWF's Department for World Service.

SystemLink International, ACCPAC's top European in 1999, was chosen to provide field training and implementation services for the project because of its expertise in implementing ACCPAC solutions and aiding this particular market segment. SystemLink also has offices in Philadelphia, Toronto, London, Zurich, The Hague, Brussels, and in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

"This is not a typical office environment. It's a unique situation, and we are happy to participate, because the ultimate benefactors are those who so desperately need our help," said Fabrice Fayd'herbe de Maudave, Executive Director of SystemLink ETZ Europe Operations.

"Working with charitable organizations is always very rewarding," said Jeremy Waterman, Managing Director of LA Technology. "ACCPAC has a long history of working with non-profit organizations, including the Canadian Red Cross, educational institutions across Canada, and the World Wildlife Fund."
