Internet Solutions to provide M-Web with connectivity infrastructure: dial, international and business access
In a three-year deal, M-Web has chosen Internet Solutions (IS) as its new partner for the provision of its network-related services.
Previously with UUNet/MCI, M-Web opted to go with IS due to its robust infrastructure, commitment to service excellence and innovative solutions.
The deal consists of the following services:
* Dial infrastructure for the entire M-Web dial user base (in excess of 240 000 subscribers).
* Provision of both local and international Internet connectivity to this base.
* An option to provide connectivity for the M-Web Business base as well as the provision of access to the M-Web content-rich server environment.
"We have been negotiating this deal for some time," says Angus MacRobert, CEO of IS, "and we are delighted to be servicing M-Web and their customers. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
Kim Reid, CEO of M-Web, comments: "Our most important consideration was to continue to provide our members with an easy to use, fast and reliable network service and a seamless move. We share some common visions and goals with IS and find their culture to be very similar to our own. Their superior service, technical quality and reliability were important factors in our decision to migrate to their infrastructure. With IS provisioning nearly 80% of the corporate market, the advantage for our customers being `on-net` with a much bigger community will result in faster, more cost-effective connectivity."
"This is such an exciting time for IS, our customers and the country. This contract is a sign of the confidence we feel about our business and the communications industry as a whole. With the changes in the legislation recently announced, IS will further be in a position to provide exciting voice-related services to this ever-expanding IS community," says MacRobert.
Internet Solutions (IS) has transformed its business model, subsequently becoming the only full network service provider in the country.
The business was founded on the principle of developing a robust infrastructure in order for corporates to conduct e-business. Over the past decade, IS has established itself as a leader in this space, attracting over 80% of SA`s top businesses as clients as well as over 65% of all consumer (dial-up) customers utilising the IS backbone.
During its 10-year lifespan, IS has evolved and grown its service offerings. Today, the company is the leading hosting service provider and security service provider in SA, as well as having significant market share in the virtual private network and application service provider space.
Internet Solutions has earned an impressive collection of accolades, including eight First National Bank "Most Admired" awards, Financial Mail Best Company to Work For and a place in the Top Unlisted Company Awards.
The company partners with major players such as Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle, BT and AT&T, and in 2002 was certified as a Cisco Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), the first and only company outside of the US to be awarded this accolade.
