Internet service provider M-Web says its revamped portal has attracted record traffic.
M-Web Studios GM Russel Yeo says the record of unique visitors jumped from the previous monthly best of 750 000 in 2002, to 814 834 for the month of July. The record number of page views in a single day was also broken, jumping to 630 729, from an average of about 520 000.
"The site has been totally redesigned and new content has been added with a stronger focus on member content and services," Yeo says.
On the business offerings side, he says a tax wizard and calculator, investment portfolio tools and faxmail have been added.
New features in the home and leisure section include a five-day weather forecast, movie trailers, online gaming and lotto genius, Car Magazine road-tests, the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the Learning and Library Web site, getaway archives, the SchoolFriends Web site, salon.com, and a personalised online photo album.
"The portal has much more depth with more of our own Web sites giving users content as opposed to certain topics merely having links to other Web sites."
Yeo says he expects the figures to rise further as users become more accustomed to the portal and new members join M-Web.
