Macroscott takes infrastructure management to SME market

Johannesburg, 09 Oct 2000

Local and e-business solutions provider Macroscott has shifted its to focus solely on providing infrastructure management services to the SME and enterprise department markets. The move sees Macroscott move its e-business and development capabilities to fulfillment partners, and focus its service offering on the Microsoft/Intel space. Macroscott will also integrate Microsoft systems with Citrix, Novell, Lotus and other mainstream software applications.

"There is no argument today that the desktop is the enterprise, with workers being empowered through e-mail, enterprise portals and on-line systems," say Macroscott CEO Glen Scott. "Without structured management governed by service level agreements companies will find the total cost of ownership of the desktop running out of control."

Macroscott will provide infrastructure management of the desktop and server rooms, and will support it with desktop and network management, operating system and application integration, user support and training, and maintenance services.

"The advent of Windows 2000 sees the Microsoft solution establish itself in the enterprise space, which means its deployment will predominate in larger organisations with complex networks and communications infrastructure," Scott explains. "It is also a fact that companies are finding hybrid networks most successfully address their work needs, which entails integrating Microsoft with other popular operating systems and applications. These environments become complex and need careful management."

Macroscott is accredited to carry out board level repairs on all major PC and network component brands. The company has a national infrastructure to manage the routing of support calls to the nearest centre. The company possesses branches in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, with agents in Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Namibia, East London, Nelspruit, Pretoria, Richards Bay and Pietermaritzburg.
