Madge announces cheapest TR adapter in South Africa

Johannesburg, 04 Jan 1999

Madge Networks Africa has announced a price cut on the Madge Blue+ 16/4 ISA PnP Adapter, making it the cheapest Token Ring adapter in South Africa. The standard street price is now R630 per unit.

According to Kevin Barnard, business development manager in South Africa, the card provides faster overall network performance with guaranteed interoperability with legacy IBM environments. "It is ideal for all ISA-based PCs that need to support both the latest operating systems and also access older host-based applications, which require full register-level IBM compatibility," Barnard says. "Blue+ 16/4 ISA PnP has the flexibility to run either IBM's shared RAM Token Ring drivers or Madge's performance enhancing FastBlue software or LAN Support Software 6. With Plug and Play installation and automatic ringspeed detection, the Blue+ adapter becomes an integral part of a client PC, easing administrative support overhead and reducing maintenance costs," he adds.

Customer investment is already protected since the Blue+ 16/4 ISA PnP will work with past, present and future network applications and, at the new price, its even more difficult for customers to hesitate, says Barnard.

The Blue+ 16/4 ISA PnP adapter is supplied with Madge FastBlue Software, a set of high performance network drivers that also support IBM ISA adapters. Madge LAN Support Software 6 also provides support for the Blue+ 16/4 ISA PnP. LSS 6 supports new networking models, such as Windows 98, Novell`s Client-32 and Dedicated Token Ring (DTR).
