Madge extends management software

Johannesburg, 26 Oct 1998
Madge Networks is extending its network management software range with TrueView/32 Enterprise. The software suite provides Madge Token Ring customers with comprehensive graphical configuration, fault diagnosis and performance management applications.

Market Development Manager at Madge Africa, Kevin Barnard, said the simple, yet powerful suite of tools allows network administrators to manage their network effectively.

"Traffic flows can be viewed and potential bottlenecks identified before users are affected. These monitoring capabilities also provide valuable information for activities such as capacity planning," he said.

The TrueView/32 Enterprise software enables the rapid deployment and configuration of Madge switching products by storing device settings centrally, offering reduced installation time and associated expense. The network management software also integrates seamlessly into popular open network management platforms, such as Tivoli NetView and Hewlett Packard OpenView under both Microsoft Windows NT and UNIX environments.

Barnard said: "TrueView/32 Enterprise gives network managers full visibility of their networks. It provides the tools, which enables them to identify network hot spots, such as performance bottlenecks. This also allows them to plan ahead for the deployment of High Speed Token Ring (HSTR) links or Token Ring desktop switching.

"The TrueView/32 Enterprise network management software forms part of the Madge Perspective strategy to provide Token Ring users with advanced functions for the management and control of switched Token Ring environments. This is increasingly important as switching becomes more prevalent in the backbone and emerges as a widely-deployed desktop technology."
