Madge Networks has launched its third generation Token Ring adapter card to help network managers save time and costs on network administration.
The Smart 16/4 PCI Ringnode Wake-on-LAN (WoL) adapter is the industry`s first to support proposed PC99 hardware guidelines. Offering total power management, investment protection and network resilience, the new adapter supports the latest industry initiatives to reduce Total Cost of Ownership.
Full Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) and OnNow are also incorporated, offering investment protection for users who choose to upgrade to newer PC platforms and Operating Systems such as NT5.
"These precise power management capabilities allow network managers to save valuable time by carrying out PC administration tasks, such as software downloads, from a remote central point without having to visit individual PCs or workstations," explained Madge Africa MD Peter Turvey. When used with the recently announced Madge Perspective LAN Tools future-proofed software, the adapter will empower network managers to standardise installation and enhance network security. In addition, a quick diagnostics tool allows the testing of either individual adapters or the connection between two adapters on a Token Ring network.
