Madge Networks, a worldwide supplier of networking solutions, showcased High Speed Token Ring and video networking products at NetWorld+Interop (May 5 - 7, Booth 5543, South Hall 5, Las Vegas Convention Center). To help customers evolve their networking infrastructure into the future, Madge representatives focused on key network challenges including: protecting installed base investments; harnessing the convergence of voice, video and data; and driving down the cost of ownership. A leader in the development of High Speed Token Ring (HSTR) technology, Madge showed HSTR in action with demonstrations of a prototype HSTR-Ready Smart Ringswitch product. Visitors were able to see how the Smart Ringswitch product family slots into existing networks with minimal configuration, as part of Madge`s "Token Ring for the 21st Century" commitment to protect customers` Token Ring investment and avoid major network upheaval. Madge representatives also discussed the company`s recently announced blueprint for bringing Token Ring switching power to the backbone, workgroup and desktop levels with the deployment of Madge`s Smart Ringswitch Plus, Smart RingSwitch Express and GroupSwitch modules. In addition, Madge will displayed the company`s adapter cards for desktops, servers and mobile users; intelligent hub systems; Token Ring switches and ATM/LAN backbone products. To show visitors how they can achieve greater productivity from video conferencing and application sharing over local and wide area networks while controlling costs, Madge had given give hands-on demonstrations of its Madge LAN Video Gateway, AccessSwitch and VideoSwitch products. Visitors were able to learn how these scalable solutions provide connectivity between H.320 and H.323 systems in order to connect IP-based videoconferencing on the LAN to the public telephone network without the expense of ISDN lines to the desktop. Madge showed how aggregating video, data, and voice with least cost routing can reduce the cost of network access.
