Madge shows off new ESN family

Madge Networks has demonstrated its new ESN (Edge Switching Node) product family.
Johannesburg, 30 Jun 1998

Madge Networks SA has demonstrated its new, highly-touted ESN (Edge Switching Node) product family, showing how the ESN series allows telecommunications carriers to offer voice, data, and video services - based on a cost-effective ISDN platform - to markets that traditionally could not justify the investment in ISDN.

ESN products are affordably designed for carriers who want to offer ISDN-based services without upgrading their central office switches or using inefficient backhaul solutions.

"The demonstrations highlighted the scalability features of the Madge ESN switching solutions, with an emphasis on the products' support for a wide variety of interfaces," said Madge Africa technical specialist Ronald Bartels. "These switches are especially suited for customer located applications and small central offices in which upgrades would be impractical."
