Madge shows off new HSTR, ATM products

Johannesburg, 02 Nov 1998
Madge Networks has unveiled its latest High Speed Token Ring (HSTR), Token Ring and ATM products, as well as previewing the Token Ring version of its Madge LAN Video Gateway switch.

Madge successfully demonstrated its 100 Mbps connectivity on its Smart Ringswitch backbone Token Ring switches, highlighting how Madge is meeting Token Ring customer needs for scalable networks at an affordable price.

"Madge`s new Smart DeskStream Token Ring switch provides improved network productivity, manageability and security," said Madge Africa MD Peter Turvey. "Other product highlights include Madge`s Smart 16/4 PCI Ringnode WoL adapter, the Smart Ringswitch Token Ring switch range and the recently announced Collage750 ATM Backbone switch."

Madge has also lufted the covers on its evolutionary LAN/WAN videoconferencing with the Madge LAN Video Gateway (LVG) and Madge WAN AccessSwitch ranges, focusing on how companies can achieve increased productivity while controlling operating and access costs. Visitors will have a chance to see videoconferencing distributed over Token Ring, Ethernet and ISDN, demonstrating compatibility with corporate local area and wide area networks.

"We`re seeing growing interest in the videoconferencing arena to the degree that we`re having to go out in search of qualified staff to add to our sales and marketing team," Turvey said.
