Majority prefer IndiaMart

IndiaMart.com, a business-to-business (B2B) platform on the Internet, was recently judged as the largest online B2B marketplace in India, in a study conducted by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on micro, small and medium enterprises, reports The Economic Times.

IAMAI aims to represent the interests of the online and mobile value-added services industry.

The study accords a leadership status for IndiaMart.com with 60% market share in India's online B2B marketplace and states that 85% of B2B suppliers across India prefer IndiaMart.com as their first choice when it comes to online B2B marketplaces.

HK commission funds innovation

The Innovation and Technology Commission in Hong Kong is committed to helping entrepreneurs succeed with the aid of innovation and technology, through infrastructural facilities and funding programmes, according to news.gov.hk.

Speaking at the Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 opening ceremony, deputy commissioner for innovation and technology, Andrew Lai, noted that the Small Entrepreneur Research Assistance Programme, or Serap, funded by the commission, provided start-up capital for technology entrepreneurs and companies.

"With a maximum funding of $4 million for each approved project on a dollar-for-dollar matching basis, Serap helps entrepreneurs to undertake technological research and development projects with business potential," he said.

Super small enabler unveiled

Open Controller is an integrated machine-to-machine (M2M) solution initiated by a Dutch consortium of scientific institutes and SME enterprises, states TMCnet.

According to the groups, the cooperation led to a real market breakthrough, supplying almost all of developers' wants in the domain of M2M communications technology.

Early 2008 trial cases, including Heineken Breweries, proved a factor five abbreviate of runtime and project costs with results tested and validated by University of Technology Eindhoven the Netherlands.
