iBurst has changed its executive management, appointing a new CEO and MD, and pushing CEO Thami Mtshali up to chair the board.

The company announced this morning that Vodacom executive Jannie van Zyl will take over the position of CEO. The new position will see Van Zyl assume responsibility for the group, which includes local operations, as well as iBurst Africa.

iBurst has also appointed Ian Halliday as its new MD. The company says Halliday will be responsible for iBurst's operational focus. Halliday moves up from his position as CEO for iBurst Africa.

The positions will be effective from the beginning of next month.

The new appointments are a move to replace outgoing MD Alan Knott-Craig Jr, who resigned in April. At the time, Knott-Craig Jr explained his decision stemmed from the birth of his baby and his decision to move to Stellenbosch.

Knott-Craig Jr joined iBurst as MD in 2006, after Blue Label Investments bought a stake in Wireless Business Solutions - iBurst's holding company.
