South African digital mapping provider, MapIT has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with location-based services (LBS) provider, deCarta.
This was revealed by Etienne Louw, MapIT's MD, at the company's 10th anniversary at its new office in Centurion.
The agreement, which came into effect on 14 February, will see MapIT providing an integrated digital mapping offering running on deCarta's LBS platform, which boasts 30 million users worldwide.
According to Louw, the deal marks a new era for the company, and having deCarta on board further enhances its mapping services in the southern African region.
“DeCarta is pleased to power this integrated LBS solution for MapIT's clients and system integration partners,” said Armin Fendrich, VP EMEA, at deCarta.
He added that, with this exclusive package, businesses no longer have to worry about developing LBS-oriented solutions and then integrating the mapping functionality. “It's all done upfront”, he said.
“The deCarta LBS platform features a myriad of application programming interfaces (APIs), Web services and cross-platform solutions for JavaScript, Android, iOS and more. That really makes it easy for companies to develop a customised solution that bolsters loyalty and, importantly, value-added services,” added Louw.
