Maqsat Satellite Communications (Maqsat), the Dutch satellite communications provider, announced today that it has joined Europe*Star`s Gateway programme. By opening a new satellite gateway accessing the Europe*Star 1 satellite at 45 degrees East, Maqsat has become a partner of Europe*Star`s Gateway Network. This network, consisting of global network providers, national PTT`s and independent teleport operators like Maqsat, provides seamless access to Europe*Star`s satellites and adds value to its offer of transponder capacity.
Via the Europe*Star 1 satellite, Maqsat will expand its Internet and voice connectivity services in the Middle and Far East and continue its strategy of delivering dedicated, non-overbooked satellite services to governmental and financial institutions, NGOs and corporate customers. Its Europe*Star Ku-band gateway is situated at Maqsat`s main teleportin Amsterdam and directly co-located with the Amsterdam Internet Exchange and all major telecommunications network providers. This enables Maqsat to provide customers throughout the whole of Europe*Star`s five footprints with direct, single hop access to the European Internet backbone and voice networks.
Kees-Jan Mink, Director Sales and Marketing of Maqsat, says: `In view of the growing demand for bandwidth in the Middle and Far East, our customers will be pleased to now have Europe*Star`s coverage and high quality Ku-band capacity at their disposal. With a payload of exceptional power and gain, the Europe*Star 1 satellite is uniquely positioned to deliver broadband services into small dishes, which significantly reduces the hardware investments for our customers.`
Jonathan Barter, Director Business Development of Europe*Star, says: `Maqsat brings a valuable addition to our strategy of offering customers access to local teleport facilities and services, through industry partnerships. In addition to providing Europe*Star access to customers in the Netherlands, Maqsat`s location within one of the world`s recognised Internet exchanges will also attract overseas customers located within our coverage of the eastern hemisphere. It`s a sincere pleasure to announce this new partnership with Maqsat`.
