Marconi, a global supplier of advanced communications solutions, has been selected to provide and install network access equipment for German carrier tesion Communikationsnetze S"udwest (tesion).
The project will cover 60 major distribution sites in the German state of Baden-W"urttemberg. The installation is the first stage in tesion`s national network rollout and forms part of a frame contract initially worth over US$4.6 million. As tesion`s network continues to expand, the contract could be worth over $18.5 million a year for several years.
George Debbo, technical director of Marconi Communications South Africa, says: "Our access equipment will enable tesion to provide competitive voice and data services, and bring them to market quickly. Our on-the-ground capabilities were instrumental in winning this order."
