Matsema launches remote PC access solution

IT solutions provider Matsema has launched a remote access solution that allows PC users to access their PCs from anywhere in the world via the Internet.
Johannesburg, 28 Feb 2003

Matsema has announced that it is the only registered certified reseller for the GoToMyPc software, which allows users to remotely access their computers from any other Internet-connected computer in the world through a secure, private connection.

The solution also allows users to transfer files, print remotely and `invite a guest`. GoToMyPC is a Web-based technology that works with existing firewall and Internet infrastructure, and does not require changes or opening of ports, configuring of IP addresses or deploying new hardware or software.

Security features include an SSL-encrypted Web site and end-to-end AES 128-bit encryption of the data stream and chat as well as keyboard and mouse input; multiple passwords, including an access code that resides on the host computer and is never transmitted or stored on GoToMyPC servers; and notification when the PC is accessed.

Additional features include lockout protection, inactivity timeout and the ability to lock the host keyboard and mouse and to blank the host screen. Web-balancing switches monitor the network flow and transparently distribute server requests among all the servers. Redundant switches and routers; clustered servers; and backup systems ensure reliability and scalability. Only the screen image of the remote computer is transmitted and it is updated only as it changes. The data is also highly compressed. For these reasons, the user does not experience the lag time associated with other remote-access solutions.
