MATSEMA (Pty) Ltd has been appointed the official distributor of GUPTA software products throughout Africa.
On his visit to South Africa this week, Mark Bygraves, Regional Director EMEA for GUPTA, commented: "When we were looking for a key partner to continue our significant drive into the African region, MATSEMA not only matched our criteria, but exceeded them. We are very much looking forward to partnering with a company that shares our views and values when it comes to offering excellent levels of technical expertise and customer support."
Based in Pretoria, MATSEMA plans to target the corporate market, including the educational sector, with immediate effect.
Local reference sites already include the likes of Telkom, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Council and a variety of medium to large organisations.
Gupta Technologies announced recently that its SQLBase 9.0 for Linux has been certified "Novell Ready" for Linux Enterprise Server 8 and 9.
According to Victor Nethononda, MATSEMA`s Director: Services: "SQLBase 9.0 for Linux runs up to 40% faster on the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 than on Windows operating systems using identical hardware. This is proof of the power SUSE Linux provides as a database platform. Combined with the inherent Linux security, the encrypted SQLBase TE database offers unmatched database security for customers seeking secure business solutions."
The "Ready" designation means that:
* The product has been designed to work with Novell`s Linux family of enterprise-class software products.
* Achieve maximum synergy by teaming best-of-breed software and hardware solutions with your Novell technologies.
GUPTA has been a SuSE Linux, and now Novell technology partner, since June 2003.
The combination of GUPTA`s SQLBase for Linux with Novell`s SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 will provide ISVs, VARs and corporate customers a scalable high performance foundation for their embedded database needs.
SQLBase 9.0 is available in standard and encrypted versions. A trial version is available for download on the GUPTA Web site.
