Due to technology and business application trends necessitating storage consolidation the Channel component market is predicted to grow at more than 200% annually whilst 80% of external RAID storage revenue is expected to be base on SAN architecture by the end of 2002.

Acknowledging the rein of Fibre Channel Switch in the SAN era, Maxtec has been knighted as the first Fabric Integrator partner of Brocade Communications Systems in South Africa. Brocade is a leader in storage , providing scalable, reliable foundations for storage environments. The corporation is a market leader in Fibre Channel Fabric switches - the essential framework for networking servers and storage systems.

The partnership agreement, signed at the end of September, brings a unique value to Maxtec`s SAN implementations, helping their customers deploy truly heterogeneous SAN solutions based on Brocade`s Silkworm family of Fibre Channel Switches and software products. The SilkWorm family provides the highest performance and most scalable, resilient, reliable and manageable solutions in the market.

As a Brocade Fabric Integrator, Maxtec is now certified to sell and support the award-winning SilkWorm family of Fibre Channel switches and software empowering the group to play a strategic role in ensuring the rapid implementation of scalable SANs based on Fibre Channel networking.

Steve Charnock, regional sales manager of Brocade recognises the status of Maxtec as a Brocade Fabric Integrator stating that the company is an expert in offering value-added SAN solutions, skilled SAN integration and implementation services.

"Brocade`s products and services, combined with our comprehensive customer support, provide Maxtec clients with simplified integration and deployment of SAN solutions, increased return on storage investment and reduced costs," explains Maxtec`s marketing executive Carey Linnell.

Brocade`s Fabric Architecture is also featured in Maxtec`s latest training tool - its SAN Operability Centre. The centre, launched recently in conjunction with IBM and Brocade corporations, illustrates key aspects of the Fibre Channel Switches and affords South African clients the opportunity to experiment with the latest techniques in storage management and consolidation.
