Listed storage company Maxtec has signed a distribution agreement with international storage software company FalconStor to bring remote storage over IP to the local market.
Maxtec and US-based FalconStor announced a joint strategic distribution agreement to provide resellers with the ability to integrate FalconStor`s IPStor Software solutions in their product offerings.
FalconStor says IPStor is the first software to centralise, virtualise and provide storage over IP using standard industry components.
IPStor combines IP-connectivity with essential enterprise-class storage services: virtualisation, high availability (active-active failover), mirroring, replication, snapshot, and transparent integration with standard industry backup/recovery software.
In addition, IPStor software unifies storage area networks and network-attached storage under a common management umbrella, delivering both block and file level sharing to application servers and workgroup users.
"With IPStor, FalconStor is redefining storage networking," says Maxtec group chairman, George Talbot.
"Typically, solution providers have focused on either the hardware-based connectivity solutions or the software-based storage services solutions. IPStor has created a new 'space` that offers both, and as a software-only solution that is hardware-independent.
"This allows companies to leverage existing IT infrastructures and benefit from added functionalities such as mirroring, replication, snapshot, and zero-impact backup and restore."
Gerry Briggs, FalconStor EMEA GM, says: "This agreement allows us to make a major entry into the South African market by partnering with its established industry leader for storage systems.
"Maxtec will be trained and certified in all facets of the IPStor software technology. We see this agreement as a means for the channel to embrace solutions that will add value and complement our growth in Europe and SA."
