The Maxum Business Incubator, at The Innovation Hub, has been selected to join the Microsoft BizSpark programme as a network partner. The BizSpark programme is a global initiative designed to accelerate the success of early stage start-ups by providing them with resources and connecting them to network partners.
Network partners (like Maxum) are active members of the software ecosystem that are able to provide mentorship, guidance and resources to BizSpark start-ups or entrepreneurs.
“In our quest to be relevant and add meaningfully to the growth, upliftment and economic development of high-technology start-up entrepreneurs, the Maxum Business Incubator is always looking for opportunities that capture this ideal. Therefore, we are thrilled to be a part of the BizSpark Network,” says Patricia Dlamini, Manager of Maxum.
Microsoft is committed to assisting entrepreneurs in transforming their ambitions, and innovative concepts, into sustainable, dynamic businesses and to foster innovation and entrepreneurialism. The BizSpark programme provides start-ups with software, support and visibility at a time when these are most valuable, but least affordable - during the first three years. This is offered with no upfront costs and minimal requirements.
BizSpark - 2
The head of the developer and platform group at Microsoft South Africa, Dave Ives, says BizSpark is designed to give young companies a boost at a time when credit and funding are more difficult to come by.
“One of the key things that we've learned in the early stage life cycle of a start-up is that access to our technology has been an issue,” says Ives. “By making it easier for local software developers to access much-needed software and tools and services, we enable them to create and launch products. This, in turn, helps develop a thriving local software economy.”
BizSpark gives eligible start-ups easy access to Microsoft's full-featured development tools, platform technologies as well as production licences to bring to market innovative solutions for the next generation of users. To be eligible, start-ups must be actively involved in the development of software-based products or services, in business for less than three years, with less than one million USD in revenue.
Enrol for the programme through the Maxum Business Incubator, a newly designated BizSpark Network Partner, and the first in South Africa.
