MB Worksoft, a member of the MB Technologies Group, has launched what it describes as an all-in-one server appliance solution aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The S3 SMB Solution, powered by Sun Microsystems and endorsed by the South African Chamber of Business, is aimed at making top-end IT functionality available to the smallest businesses.
The S3 SMB solution is an all-in-one server appliance solution comprising firewall, Web server, e-mail server, file server, database, caching server as well as software applications. The solution also includes two hours of managed support per month. It is aimed at taking the complexity out of IT and allowing the small company owner to focus on the core business. Its pricing model, which starts at R600 a month, can be financed.
MB Worksoft CEO Mark Gibb says SMEs contribute 35% to 54% of SA`s GDP, which is lower than the average in other countries.
"Combating unemployment and boosting economic growth in this country requires growing the number of successful small enterprises. But small enterprises face a lot of problems, among them a lack of finance and a lack of IT skills and infrastructure."
The new solution is aimed at eliminating some of these problems by making a Web-based IT solution with the essential components for running a business available at a reasonable price.
The company says the system is scalable and offers a fixed-cost IT environment that fits in with existing systems.
Darryl Blundell, Sun Microsystems solutions sales manager, says the partnership slots in with his company`s strategy to target the SME space.
