Datrix Solutions, a reseller of Samsung SDS's Contact messaging solution, has joined with Sun Microsystems and MB Worksoft to offer SMB users a robust, stable and full-featured messaging alternative to Microsoft Exchange at a significantly reduced cost.
Bundling Samsung Contact and Sun's LX50 hardware, the solution provides smaller businesses with a mission critical-level mail server in an appliance form that offers the best TCO on the market. Compatibility and support for all major mail clients, including Outlook, makes the Linux-based Samsung Contact a cost-effective replacement for Exchange servers while still providing all the collaboration and calendaring features users have come to rely on.
Wayne Smith, Datrix Solutions MD, says: "Samsung Contact offers small and medium companies the opportunity to benefit from a robust messaging platform that offers both the best uptime in the market as well as the scalability that growing SMEs require. All with a TCO price tag well below that of competing products."
Smith also says the combination of the Linux-based Samsung Contact suite matched with the robustness of Sun's LX50 hardware offers users greatly improved hardware and software stability and security.
"Samsung Contact, based on HP's OpenMail, is an ideal seamless drop-in replacement for Exchange servers that offers all the functionality users require with the added benefits of stability and support for multiple client interfaces," says Smith.
Mark Gibb, MB Worksoft CEO, says the bundled mail solution is a key element of MB Worksoft's S3 SMB strategy, which seeks to provide the growing SMB sector with stable and cost-efficient tools that improve their business. "E-mail is a strategic and mission-critical tool in today's competitive business world and together with Datrix and Sun we are now able to deliver a full-featured mail solution at a price that SMBs can afford.
"Our S3 SMB strategy is to take the complexity out of IT and allow businesses to focus on their core business, something that Samsung Contact allows them to do."
"Samsung Contact's advanced administration features significantly reduce the man hours needed to maintain a fully operational mail system, in turn reducing the total cost of ownership of the product," says Smith.
"Sun has recognised the growing importance in SA of the small and medium business sector and has always striven to offer the market solutions that provide all the functionality while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexity," says Duncan Peruch, head of sales and e-commerce at Sun Microsystems South Africa.
"This solution fits neatly in with that objective and for the SMB market greatly reduces the complexity of managing their mail systems, allowing them to focus on their business rather than their infrastructure.
"This is very much an appliance offering, delivering all the reliability and stability expected by business," says Peruch.
