MB Worksoft to launch new CRM company at Comdex

Johannesburg, 11 Sep 2000

As part of its planned entry into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) market sector MB Worksoft, the software and services arm of the JSE-listed MB Technologies group, has announced it will be launching a new company, MB Worksoft Customer Velocity Management (CVM) - a company expected to generate more than R30 million in revenues during the next 12 months.

This was confirmed by Mark Gilfillan, MD of MB Worksoft, who said the new company would be officially launched at Comdex 2000, to be held at the Gallagher Estate from 3-6 October.

"Adding a CRM-focused company to our arsenal of e-business focused solutions offerings is vitally important to us.

CVM`s offering complements our current range of e-business offerings, which are based on on e-Business Hierarchy, which in turn defines any organisation`s technology requirements in their path to full e-business enablement. We will be using Comdex 2000 as the official launch vehicle for CVM because it is the only South African event entirely dedicated to attracting business decision makers."

The theme at this year`s event is "IT Solutions for the Age", with the focus being on the emerging Internet and e-commerce markets, including the basic building blocks of communications, and appropriate platforms.

Cliff Baard, a director of MB Worksoft Customer Velocity Management said that although the company would only officially launch at Comdex, it is already involved in a number of Beta sites, with three of these currently being run in Cape Town. "We bring a new-look approach to CRM which, until now, is little-understood by end users and implementers in general."

He said the three pilot sites, focusing on , would generate revenues of between R8 - R10 million, adding that the company expects to reach a "conservative" target of R35 million in revenue within the next 12 months.

Commenting further, Baard said the reason why the company opted to incorporate the word "Velocity" into its trading name is because the modern business world moves at such a rapid rate - "with extreme velocity".

"Companies need to keep in step with the speed of business today. They not only have to understand their customers, but they have to have the technology to be able to communicate and transact at lighting speed to maintain and build the loyalty of their client base. Our company gives them some of the key building blocks for them to remain competitive and profitable in today`s digital economy."

Baard believes Comdex is the "perfect launchpad" for the company, adding that the MB Worksoft group is expected to be one of the largest exhibitors at the inaugural event.

"We will be using Comdex as a means to unveil, not only the service offerings of MB Worksoft Customer Velocity Management, but also to illuminate the diverse but integrated e-business offerings available from the group as a whole. One of the main aims to is cut through all the hype, confusion and misinformation associated with embracing e-business enablement, highlighting to our clients that we are in a position to offer a full and integrated suite of solutions that will, at the end of the day, allow the proper and cost-effective designing and implementation of e-business enablement technologies and strategies."

Commenting further on the CRM marketplace, Baard said too many companies do not adopt a holistic view when tackling CRM.

"Often end users and implementers get bogged down in selecting what they believe is the latest and greatest technology, while ignoring the business requirements and objectives, as well as the existing mix of people skills within the organisation.

Often the technology - while admittedly leading-edge - is entirely inappropriate for the company`s needs. We intend focusing on all the elements, including people skills, customer contact channels, the current and required business processes, the business aims and objectives, and, ultimately, the technology required to facilitate this.

Our objective is to increase throughput and efficiencies and to make a direct impact on the client`s bottomline," said Baard.

MB Worksoft Customer Velocity Management is majority-owned by MB Worksoft. Other shareholders include Cliff Baard and Robert McKnight.
