McAfee has announced the release of the McAfee Total Protection (ToPS) for Secure Business, a comprehensive suite that offers small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) complete security in one easy-to-manage package. Coupled with McAfee's "15 Minutes to a Secure Business", a set of McAfee daily practices, businesses can maintain a very strong security posture in just 15 minutes a day.
According to recent research from McAfee, over half the businesses surveyed reported that they were only able to spend an hour a week managing their IT security. McAfee ToPS for Secure Business provides all the essential elements of security that an organisation needs - desktop, e-mail, Web and data protection - without creating a large management burden. When this solution is deployed, SMEs can employ the McAfee security management approach to maintain a very strong security posture.
"SMEs are under daily attack from an ever-growing list of security threats, including new forms of malware, spam and data loss," says Chris Christiansen, programme vice-president, Security Products and Services, IDC.
"Even though many SMEs believe they have nothing worth stealing, IDC believes that every part of an SME network and computing infrastructure is useful to criminals. Increasingly, we recommend that SME customers implement their security protection in suites, rather than discrete products. This enables them to get the best value for their money, have a single vendor to work with, and require less administration effort and training."
McAfee ToPS for Secure Business includes critical elements of security that most medium-size businesses need. It integrates complete security for endpoints, e-mail, Web, and data while providing a compliance infrastructure. It also includes McAfee's new Artemis technology, the industry's first technology to shield computer users against attacks as they happen without requiring a traditional, scheduled update of threat signatures to be installed on the machine - significantly helping companies reduce their exposure to emerging threats. Compared with the alternative of purchasing and maintaining multiple security products from multiple vendors, the solution will save businesses time, money, and provide stronger defences against known and unknown threats.
"Our SME customers tell us they want to focus on building their businesses - not on buying and maintaining a slew of security vendor 'point solutions'," says Jayson O'Reilly, regional director: Africa (acting) of McAfee. "They tell us they want security that is smart, simple and secure - intelligence built in, simple to deploy and maintain, and most important, uncompromising protection to keep our customer's information systems safe and secure. We believe this powerful new suite, combined with ground-breaking best-practices for security management, provides the highest level of protection for the least amount of time, effort and cost."
McAfee ToPS for Secure Business will be available for order on 20 October.
