Security giant McAfee has appointed Craig Hockley as its regional director for SA and sub-Saharan Africa.
Based at McAfee's regional headquarters in Johannesburg, Hockley will be responsible for the company's business strategy and development and for extending McAfee's reach and presence across the region.
Hockley is a veteran of SA's IT industry with more than 22 years' experience in hardware, software, data centres and IT infrastructure. Most recently, he was GM of ICT services and solutions provider, Dimension Data, and has previously held posts at IBM.
He says he has been looking for an opportunity in which he could make a difference and McAfee has explosive potential. “As the world becomes increasingly connected, IT security becomes increasingly relevant to both business and consumers,” he says.
According to Hockley, the business and private world has been through phenomenal change because of this connectivity.
“New applications are opened up almost daily to diverse individual users, making it nearly impossible for businesses to survive in isolation. The Internet has simultaneously created massive business opportunities and considerable exposure to risk.”
