McAfee Anti-virus Emergency Response Team (AVERT), a Network Associates business, today discovered the world`s first wireless virus. The PalmOS/Phage virus, unlike the recently discovered LibertyCrack Trojan, is a destructive virus that infects PalmOS applications when executed.
PalmOS/Phage was first discovered by McAfee AVERT researchers and has not been found in the wild. McAfee AVERT has given it a low risk assessment. When PalmOS/Phage is executed, the screen is filled with a dark gray box, and the application is terminated. The virus then replicates itself to other PalmOS applications.
