McCarthy signs three-year outsource deal with Business Connexion

McCarthy Limited has extended its relationship with Business Connexion, with the signing of another three-year IT outsource deal.

In 1997, McCarthy Group outsourced all of its IT services to Q Data KZN (now part of Business Connexion). Management at Business Connexion says the signing of the new agreement represents a vote of confidence by the motoring giant in the newly formed Business Connexion - SA`s largest black-empowered IT outsourcing company.

As part of JSE-listed group Bidvest, McCarthy also owns Budget Rent a Car (SA), Yamaha Distributors and Burchmores Car Auctions as well as financial services and insurance arms. In the last financial year, McCarthy sold approximately 12% of all new cars and 11% of all used cars in SA.

Dave Lowe, divisional manager: client services at Business Connexion, confirms that all of these divisions rely on the IT services developed and managed by Business Connexion. The system connects all 140 trading sites nationwide (and in neighbouring states) using over 4 000 remote devices linked to the central system based in Business Connexion`s data centre in Umhlanga Rocks.

Graham Damp, McCarthy executive director responsible for IT, says: "Systems are the DNA of our business and we have had a longstanding relationship with the folk at Business Connexion, who have helped develop systems that allow our business to operate seamlessly throughout our supply and delivery chains."

Will Heygate, regional chief executive of Business Connexion KwaZulu-Natal, says he sees the renewal of the McCarthy agreement as confirmation of the group`s ability to provide a high quality and reliable IT services to one of SA`s leading companies.

Business Connexion has long-term associations with many of its clients and works closely with them to better understand their businesses.

"There has always been a feeling of family between McCarthy and Business Connexion. The teams work closely together and this is most obviously seen in the ongoing systems development which is tailor-made for our business," concludes Damp.
