McDonalds South Africa, a division of the international fast foods giant, has purchased Business Unusual`s SunSystem software packages - Vision XL and Vision Executive - to make their report writing more efficient, user friendly and less time consuming.
SunSystems is used by McDonalds subsidiaries worldwide. McDonalds South Africa has ninety branches spanning all nine provinces.
Mervyn Pillay, a McDonalds (McOpCo) accountant, says the international acceptance of the SunSystems suite of business applications was why McDonalds South Africa first began using it. "It had been tried and tested internationally so we knew there would be no risk factor," he says.
`We believe that in the cutthroat world of business, our software can give our clients the competitive edge," says Business Unusual MD, Dion Retief. "Not only does our Vision Executive programme arm company decision-makers with the financial and analytical power to effectively manage and control the performance of their business, but it allows accountants to be more efficient. The capacity to personally access and analyse the data held in a SunSystems database enables fast identification of trends, problems and opportunities affecting the business. Combine these factors and one`s bottom line should improve."
The Vision Executive package is used to set up ad hoc, customised or standard reports as well as to help supply clients with multi-dimensional analysis through its drill-down features.
"Vision XL, on the other hand, requires users to have only a basic knowledge of Excel and permits flexible, sophisticated analysis of a business and its potential, leading to more informed decisions and proactive management," says Retief.
Vision XL provides a direct, easy-to-use link between SunSystems data and Microsoft Excel, facilitating the exchange of financial data in both directions. Users can harness the power of Excel to quickly access data from SunSystems, or transfer data from Excel worksheets to the SunSystems database, utilising comprehensive and wide-ranging analysis and reporting resources. One of the benefits companies can expect from this programme is lower staff training costs due to staff familiarity with existing Excel software.
Lorna Raine, Financial Director for McDonalds SA says McDonalds have found SunSystems packages versatile. She maintains that, as the business environment gets more competitive, accountants need to provide information to management faster, more efficiently and with greater accuracy. She believes this process in turn allows more informed strategic decisions to be made - something SunSystems allows McDonalds to do.
Pillay says the SunSystems software being used has definitely played a role in their improved service, as has iLanga System`s excellent support service. iLanga Systems, a company in the Business Unusual group, is responsible for installing and maintaining the SunSystems software.
