Leading ICT personality Mthunzi Mdwaba has not clarified the reasons for his sudden removal as Kelly Group's deputy CE.
The listed recruitment company made the announcement on the Stock Exchange News Service, yesterday. Kelly's announcement states: “Mdwaba has been removed from his position as deputy CE and an executive director of the Kelly Group with immediate effect”.
However, Mdwaba is still employed by the Kelly Group, it said, without clarifying his current role. The announcement by the board went on to “express its appreciation to Mdwaba for his contribution to the group as a director”.
Mdwaba is a fierce advocate of empowerment and has played a major role in several non-governmental bodies, seeking fair labour conditions and advancing the cause of empowerment in the ICT sector in SA.
When contacted by ITWeb, Mdwaba indicated he is not in a position to comment at this stage, but will do so later. Kelly is also not shedding any light on the matter. Marketing director Tracey Czakan says the company is not saying anything more than what appeared in the announcement.
Torque IT provides high-level technical training services to the private and public sector on Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, Novell, Sun and other major systems. It also provides customised training services to school-leavers seeking employment in the ICT industry.
In July last year, Mdwaba was appointed a member of the International Labour Organisation's governing body representing SADC business. He is also vice-president of Business Unity SA, a former president of the Black IT Forum, and a member of the ICT Charter Steering Committee.
