Media Reality Technologies denies patent infringement

Business Wire via ITWeb,
Sunnyvale, California, 18 Mar 2002

Media Reality Technologies (MRT), a cutting-edge developer of display applications, announced that it would vigorously fight allegations of patent infringement by Genesis Microchip Inc, and that it had already retained Pillsbury Winthrop as its counsel.

Although MRT had not been served by Genesis as of press time, MRT President Jui Liang stated: "The accusations by Genesis are false. MRT is not infringing this or any other patents." According to Liang, MRT plans on filing a counter-claim for a judgment declaring that MRT products do not infringe any patents asserted by Genesis, and that the patents are invalid.

MRT Vice President Michael Wang added: "This is a desperate move by Genesis to protect its market share because MRT is winning over many customers and MRT poses a serious threat to Genesis. By this unfounded accusation, Genesis is attempting to interfere with MRT`s relationship to customers and to slow down MRT`s progress."

"MRT will seek to recover attorney`s fees and costs incurred in defending this lawsuit," Liang concluded, "and we reserve the right to pursue Genesis for damages for interfering with our customer relationships. We stand by our products and technology, and we are confident that we will prevail against these false accusations."
