Media trading hub signs on first newspaper client

HAL Interactive, the sales, marketing and online media trading hub, has signed on Times Media`s flagship publication, The Sunday Times, which is the first local newspaper to place its advertising offerings, rates and special packages on the system.

The media trading hub says its collaboration with Telmar Media Systems, a supplier of media planning and services, has resulted in an interface with a planning tool which makes the process of planning, buying and booking more accurate and efficient.

HAL Interactive MD Grant Fraser says the move is expected to further propel the HAL Interactive hub`s transaction growth.

"The fact that we now have a major newspaper joining our established clients will doubtless help to enhance the appeal of HAL Interactive. And with media departments increasingly becoming familiar with the offerings and experiencing the benefits of being able to plan, buy, book and confirm advertising online, we believe it`s inevitable that they`ll spread the good word and other print media owners will sign up," says Fraser.

"The decision driving media owners to the HAL Interactive system is the need to make their lives - and those of the planners and buyers - easier and more profitable. In designing HAL Interactive, we have taken into consideration the tremendous task media planners face in constructing a media plan from the endless proliferation of available media," adds Fraser.

"Sure, salespeople will always be important because they`re able to deal with special requests, availability of space and the myriad other desires of the advertising fraternity. But that shouldn`t detract from what HAL Interactive can do - and that`s usher in a new, widely accepted era in the attainment of media-related advertising information."

The hub has achieved a total transaction value of more than R100 million over the past 10 months.
