One of SA`s largest private medical schemes, Medihelp has selected infrastructure and IT solution provider Datacentrix as a business partner to implement a workflow system for managing and automating the document-intensive processes existing within the company.
Medihelp`s administration cost is among the lowest in the industry. To achieve these results, Medihelp uses state-of-the-art technology to offer a streamlined, comprehensive and prompt service to members and service providers. This technology, which includes an electronic documentation management system, offers employees electronic access to working documentation such as claims, within seconds.
Datacentrix will develop a custom document workflow system for Medihelp based on the SourceCode K2.net workflow server, which integrates with Microsoft-based application development platforms.
"In order to provide a better service to customers as you grow your company, it is essential that you enable and empower your staff to be more efficient," says Datacentrix`s Development and Integration Director, Eugene Van Rensburg. "Workflow is the sequence of steps people actually take to perform their jobs on the items they are adding value to. Improving these processes means improving your profits."
This project will automate essential business processes with workflow, and include six mission-critical processes including claims administration and chronic medicine decision processing. These processes will affect a substantial part of the Medihelp organisation - including staff, brokers, business partners - and of course, its members.
Walter Kloppers, Medihelp`s workflow project sponsor, says: "To keep our competitive-edge in the medical aid industry, it is crucial that we better the service levels to our customers, and streamline our processes through automated workflow. We went through an extensive tendering process to find the right business partner to implement our workflow systems - and Datacentrix offered the best solution fit to our needs."
"The benefits that Medihelp will realise are increased areas of productivity due to optimal resource usage, improved service levels due to better turnaround times on customer requests, and higher efficiency levels resulting in real bottom line savings," says Van Rensburg. "Medihelp will also be able to identify bottlenecks by providing the visibility of critical process execution information."
The workflow system is being developed as a complete Microsoft solution, and will be a fully customised implementation on the Microsoft .NET framework. The ASP.NET Web-based user interface will allow Medihelp staff to access the system from anywhere on it`s distributed network, and will empower the entire enterprise with automated workflow.
