Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) vendor, American Power Conversion (APC), and leading local UPS manufacturer and distributor, Meissner, have signed a strategic partnership with Meissner appointed as a High Power Partner (HPP). The partnership will focus on the sales, implementation and support of APC`s three-phase UPSs. This alliance will see both companies enhance their offerings for customers on the African continent.

"With its top in-house electrical engineers and technicians combined with their extensive experience in the implementation, service and repair of three-phase systems, Meissner has been a leading player in the UPS market in Africa for over 30 years. It is in the benefit of our clients that we are backed up by these expertise," says Christo Engelbrecht, regional manager for Africa, at APC.

As an HPP, Meissner will now make use of APC`s Silcon, Smart-UPS DP and Symmetra high-end product ranges (5 KVA and upwards). "These are sophisticated products targeted at key market sectors such as , financial institutions and service providers, where applications need to be online 24x7, and where a power failure could mean serious financial losses," adds Engelbrecht.

According to Mike Kersten, MD of Meissner, the diverse needs of the market brought the two companies together.

"By making integrated end-to-end solutions available through Meissner, APC`s existing large corporate customers will be able to easily access these additional three-phase products as well as quality services that comprehensively address continuous -availability with the best UPS companies available."

"The market is increasingly demanding redundancy with parallel redundant UPS systems. APC will benefit from the technical know-how of Meissner, and we will benefit from APC`s market-orientated approach," says Kersten.
